Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Friday summoned AAP MP from Punjab Bhagwant Mann for filming a video entering Parliament while crossing several security layers and posting it on social media.
Speaking to the media persons outside the Parliament, Mahajan said that the matter is being investigated thoroughly and she has already sought a detailed report on the security of Parliament after the video was shared on social media platforms.
Mahajan in her remarks earlier inside the House had said that it was the responsibility of every member to respect and maintain dignity of Parliament.
AAP MP Bhagwant Mann had yesterday live streamed a video of various security pickets inside the Parliament complex on social media.
Mann, who has been accused of violating Parliament security rules, shot a video clip of his journey from home to Parliament House and uploaded it on Facebook, drawing flak from various quarters for putting Parliament’s security in peril.
Head of the Parliament security, RK Singh reported the matter to the Speaker after which she sought a report from the security staff on the alleged security breach.
Hitting out at Mann, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that one should not play with the security of Parliament.
“It is against Parliamentary rules and regulations to video graph sensitive areas of the Parliament. At time when terrorists are looking for opportunities to attack, giving out such sensitive info is disastrous. Making such videos viral is not the right thing to do,” he said.
