Founder of Shani Dham temple booked for rape after disciple accuses him of sexual assault

In a shocking development involving self-proclaimed saint Daati Maharaj, a Delhi based sect leader, was on Monday booked for raping a disciple. He heads Shani Dham temple in Fatehpur Beri, Delhi.

This is not the first time that ‘Daati Maharaj’ has been accused of sexual assault.

According to reports, a woman disciple has alleged that she was sexually assaulted inside Shani Dham two years ago. Because of fear and social stigma, she didn’t file a complaint earlier as she was intimidated by the self-proclaimed saint who has a huge following in Delhi and NCR. His sermons on Thursdays and Saturdays draw thousands to Shani Dham.

The Delhi police received the complaint on Friday. A case has been registered against self styled godman and he has been booked under Indian Penal Code, Sections- 376, 377, 354 and 34. The police has began investigating the case. The victim revealed, there were several other women who were physically assaulted by the god-man, reported Times Now.

The accused also regularly hosts TV shows on national news channels. Has his own website and uses social media to promote his ‘teachings’. He has huge farm house in South Delhi as well.
