In a setback to Israeli propaganda against Hamas, an elderly Jewish hostage, who was released by Hamas on Monday night, has showered praises on the Palestinian group. Yocheved Lifschitz, who was released along with another elderly Israeli national, said that Hamas activists treated them ‘very nicely’ adding that they were ‘very delicate and gentle’ with them.
This was after reporters asked Livschitz why she shook hand with Hamas fighter while being released. She replied in Hebrew, which was translated in English by her daughter.
“Because they treated us very nicely. My Mom is saying that they (Hamas) were very gentle and delicate with them and took care of all their needs.”
Lifschitz and Nurit Cooper were released last night but their husbands are still being held with more than 200 other hostages that remain in Gaza.
Lifschitz said that she had a mattress to sleep on, and one meal a day of pitta bread, cheese and cucumber. She also said that Hamas activists also provided her with a doctor, who would visit her every few days for regular examinations.
According to her, Hamas activists were worried about their hostages’ health.
Meanwhile, Israeli military has carried out more attacks in Gaza, killing hundreds of innocent civilians. According to the Palestinian health ministry, more than 2,000 children and babies have been massacred by the Israeli military so far. The total number of people massacred by the Israeli army has now crossed 5,000.
Hamas fighters had audaciously entered Israel’s occupied territory on 7 October and killed many people before taking more than 200 military personnel and civilian hostages. The Israeli military says the number of people killed in Hamas attacks was more than 1,400.
Israel has received unconditional support from western countries such as the US, the UK and Canada in carrying out war crimes in Palestine.
