Nepal’s Tara Air’s 9 NAET carrying 19 passengers including four Indians goes missing


A small passenger plane by Nepal’s Tara Air carrying 19 passengers including four Indians has gone missing during its flight from Pokhara to Jomsom at 9:55am on Sunday. The Indian A statement from the Indian embassy in Nepal said, “Tara Air flight 9NAET that took off from Pokhara at 9.55 AM today with 22 people onboard, including 4 Indians, has gone missing. Search and rescue operation is on. The embassy is in touch with their family. Our emergency hotline number :+977-9851107021.”

According to reports, all four Indians on board the plane were from Mumbai. There are two German nationals and 13 Nepali citizens in the plane.

Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma told news agency ANI, “The aircraft was seen over the sky of Jomsom in Mustang district and then had diverted to Mt. Dhaulagiri after which it hadn’t come into contact.”

A Nepali Army Mi-17 helicopter has reportedly left for Lete, Mustang, which is the suspected crashed region of the missing Tara Air aircraft.

The plane was on a 15-minute scheduled flight to the mountain town of Jomsom, which is around 200 kms east of Kathmandu.

The route is hugely popular amongst foreign hikers who trek on the mountain trails and also with Indian and Nepalese pilgrims who visit the revered Muktinath temple.
