Gunmen have stormed a guesthouse in the Afghanistan capital used by both foreigners and locals, sparking a gun battle with police.

Police and special forces have arrived at the scene in Kola Pusha area of Kabul, said Qadam Shah, commander of the Afghan National Army`s 111th Corps.
Kabul police chief Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi said the gunmen were still shooting at his officers.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Earlier in the day, assailants attacked a government compound in southern Afghanistan, setting off hours of clashes in which at least 10 people, including four police, were killed, officials said.
Another 12 people were wounded in the attack in the city of Lashkar Gah, capital of Helmand province, according to deputy governor Mohammed Jon Rasouli.
