Former US President Barack Obama tests positive for coronavirus

Former US President Barack Obama on Sunday said that he had tested positive for coronavirus. Obama tweeted to urge people to get themselves vaccinated. His wife, Michelle Obama, has tested negative.

“I just tested positive for COVID. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative,” Obama said.

The former US President added, “It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down.”

Obama served as the US President for two consecutive terms between 2008 and 2016. Donald Trump had succeeded him in 2016 before being voted out by the US public in 2020.
