In an utterly unexpected move, America’s ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley and senior Trump cabinet member, has resigned unexpectedly, claim several US media reports.

She was appointed in her role as the US ambassador to the global body weeks after Donald Trump had been elected as new US President. CNN reported that Haley resigned Tuesday directly to President Donald Trump, according to a sources familiar. Trump is reported to have accepted her resignation.
Meanwhile, President Trump hinted that a big announcement was on its way. He tweeted, “Big announcement with my friend Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Oval Office at 10:30am.”

The former South Carolina governor’s exit has come as a surprise to Trump administration officials, reported Axios.
A report by BBC said that the White House did not confirm the story, but said Mr Trump was meeting Mrs Haley in the Oval Office on Tuesday morning.
The former South Carolina governor of Indian origin was appointed as the US ambassador to the UN despite being a long critic of Trump in January 2017. She had a tough role in representing the US at the UN since Trump has long criticised the world body in the past.
