At least 18 militants were killed as warplanes targeted Taliban hideouts in southern Helmand province on Sunday, said an army spokesman.

A Taliban vehicle was also destroyed in the air strikes, he added.

Few days before, at least 58 Taliban militants have been killed in cleanup operations in 10 provinces out of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.
The Taliban-led violence continues in Afghanistan. Afghan security forces have pressed on clearing the militants in restive provinces as they assumed the full security charges from NATO-led troops since 1 January.
