Star Indian batsman and the team’s vice-captain, Rohit Sharma, has posted a cryptic tweet amidst intense speculations of a rift between him and his captain Virat Kohli.
Taking to Twitter, Sharma shared a photo of himself walking towards the field to bat for India. He wrote, “I don’t just walk out for my Team. I walk out for my country.”

Many on social media saw Sharma’s tweet as another hint that all was not well between the two. His tweet received likes in excess of 1.1 lakh with more than 10,000 users retweeting his social media post.
Sharma’s tweet came just days after Kohli termed the media reports of a rift with his vice-captain ridiculous. He had told reporters, “If I don’t like a person or if I am insecure of a person, you will see that on my face or my behaviour towards that person and that’s how simple it is. I have always praised Rohit whenever I have had an opportunity because I believe he has been that good. We have had no issues. As I said it’s baffling.”
Earlier, Sharma had unfollowed Kohli and his actress wife Anushka Sharma on Instagram amidst rumours of a rift between the two since the World Cup competition, where India could not progress beyond the semi-final stage.
Many reports had claimed that Kohli frequently made controversial decisions with regards to team selection without seeking Sharma’s inputs.
