Novak Djokovic on Sunday defeated Italy’s Matteo Berrettini in four sets to win his sixth Wimbledon singles title. With today’s win, the Serb also joined Roger Federer and Rafel Nadal in winning 20 career Grand Slam titles.

Federer defeated Berrettini 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 in a closely contested encounter.

Former British number one Tim Henman told BBC, “It has really been a fantastic tournament with a very worthy winner.”

Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli said, “It is entirely sensational that Novak has been able to win the 20th Grand Slam. What a final – we have been so lucky to witness such a great level from both players. Berrettini pushed Djokovic – it takes two players to have such a great fight, Novak Djokovic has just taken tennis to another level.”

On Saturday, Ashleigh Barty had become the new Wimbledon ladies’ singles champion after she defeated Karolina Pliskova in three sets 6-3 6-7 (4-7) 6-3.
