India’s PV Sindhu on Friday stormed into semi-finals of the women’s single badminton event as she beat A Yamaguchi in straights sets.
Sindhu won the match 21-13, 22-20.
Sindhu was leading all through the second game but suddenly lost momentum, allowing her opponent to win 10 of the last 12 points. Yamaguchi was on a game point with Sindhu trailing 18-20 in the second game when the Indian made a feisty comeback to win the game and the match.
India are hoping Sindhu to repeat her Rio glory and win a medal again for the country. The Indian shuttler had won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, five years ago.
