Egypt’s ‘World No. 1’ squash player Ali Farag exposes hypocrisy of West, media on Ukraine crisis; speech removed from official video

Egypt’s World No. 1 squash player Ali Farag has brutally exposed the hypocrisy of the West and the media on the Ukraine crisis saying the ‘Palestinians have been going through that for the past 74 years.’ As expected, Farag’s speech on the Ukraine crisis was removed from the official video posted on the tournament’s YouTube channel.

Speaking immediately after winning the Optasia Championship title at the Wimbledon Club in London, Farag said, “One more thing that I know is going to get me in trouble, but you know we’ve all seen the what’s going on in the world at the moment with Ukraine and nobody is happy about what’s going.

“No one should accept any killings in the world or any oppression.”



Farag said that up until now sportspersons were not ‘allowed to peak about politics in sports but all of a sudden it’s allowed.’

“So now that we are allowed, I hope that people also look at the oppression everywhere in the world. Palestinians have been going through that for the past 74 years,” he said. His comments elicited loud round of applause from the audience.



Farag continued, “But I guess it doesn’t fit the narrative of the media, of the West, we couldn’t talk about it. But now that we can about Ukraine, we can talk about Palestine. So please keep that in mind”: World Number 1 Egyptian Squash player Ali Farag nails the hypocrisy of the West.”

Farag, whose bio describes him as ‘World No.1 Squash Player, Egyptian and Proud, Harvard graduate, Lucky to be making a living out of a lifelong hobby, defeated World No. 6 Diego Elias 4-11, 11-8, 11-8, 13-11 to lift the Optasia Championship title.

His speech on Ukraine and Palestine was removed from the highlights of the match on the Youtube channel of PSA.
