In another shocking development, a woman official from the State Bank of India was allegedly sexually attacked and brutalised in Kanpur. The woman’s husband has gone public sharing his wife’s ordeal. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has vowed to protect the rights of youth in his state.

The woman, identified as Chetna Yadav, worked as a clerical staff in the SBI’s Sarsaul branch. According to the victim’s husband, Pawan, an unknown man duped her into accepting a ride on his motorcycle after she finished her shift late in the evening.

Pawan said that his wife was often allowed to end shift very late adding that she left the bank at around 6.30 in the evening on the day she was attacked. His wife, Pawan added, first rejected the offer after the man said that he would drop her to her house.

Chetna Yadav was allegedly taken to an unknown location where the man tried to sexually attack her before running away with all her valuables.

“The man offered to drop my wife at Ramadevi, but my wife refused and insisted on being dropped at an earlier spot. But he continued to ride the bike and he stopped the vehicle at Maharjpur, which was a deserted place. He launched a brutal attack. She has sustained serious injuries. The man even tried to sexually attack my wife.”

Hashtag #JusticeForChetnaYadav has been trending on Twitter since Saturday night with users targeting the state government for the deteriating law and order situation.

Meanwhile, Adityanath has begun facing grief for his tweet promising to safeguard the rights of youth in Uttar Pradesh. This was after he tweeted in Hindi, “Those trying to play with the future of youth will find a place in jail.”

Uttar Pradesh goes to polls in February-March next year with Adityanath facing considerable anger from voters on many fronts.
