The reported meeting between former Chief Justice of India SA Bobde and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at the Sangh’s Nagpur headquarters has dominated social media conversations triggering strong reactions from netizens.
This was after Indian Express reported that Bobde visited the RSS headquarters to meet Bhagwat. According to the report, the RSS denied any knowledge of such a meeting, the newspaper claimed that Bobde met Bhagwat between ‘4 and 5 pm at the RSS headquarter in Mahal area.’
The report added that this was the first time Bobde had paid a visit to the RSS headquarters after relinquishing office India’s chief justice.
Some Twitterati said that Indian Express had first taken down its report before restoring its online link. It’s not clear what had prompted the media publication to remove its story before restoring it without any change.
Bobde is also reported to have visited the ancestral home of RSS founder KB Hedgewar.
Bobde’s predecessor, Ranjan Gogoi, was rewarded with a Rajya Sabha nomination by the Centre’s Narendra Modi government immediately after his retirement. Gogoi-led Bench had passed several judgments in favour of the BJP-led government on contentious issues such as the Ayodhya dispute and Rafale Scale among others.
Bobde has not accepted such rewards after his retirement yet.
