A photo of Arvind Kejriwal’s jailed minister, Satyendar Jain, has left AAP leaders shocked as they reacted in anger on social media. In the viral photo, Jain could be seen seated in a vehicle with traces of blood visible on his face.
It’s not clear what may have caused the blood to surface on his face, but Jain’s party colleagues took to Twitter to register their outrage.
AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh wrote on Twitter, “This is the person who gave the model of Mohalla Clinic to the country and saved Rs.300 crores for the people of Delhi in the construction of 5 Flyovers. This picture of @SatyendarJain is a black stain on Modi and his Maina (ED). This country will never forgive you.”
AAP MLA Somnath Bharti tweeted. “Cost of being honest n committed? By torturing .@SatyendarJain Bhai, BJP is trying to break our resolve to change politics of India. Let BJP clearly know that every such attempt of theirs will further fuel our resolve to fight back under leadership of. @ArvindKejriwal Ji.”
Kejriwal, for his part, did not appear to agree with the torture charge.
“He is in ED custody and I cannot say much since we have no direct contact. I am in no position to make any comment on this. He was taken to hospital yesterday. Whatever happened in the hospital, when he was a little better, he was taken back,” Kejriwal was quoted by NDTV as saying.
Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. The central government agency this week conducted raids on premises linked to the AAP minister and his associates. The ED had claimed to recover Rs. 2.85 crore cash and 133 gold coins weighing 1.80 kg.
“ED has conducted searches on 6.6.2022 under PMLA,2002 at the premises of Satyendar Kumar Jain and others. Various incriminating documents, digital records, cash amounting to Rs. 2.85 Crore and 133 gold coins weighing 1.80 kg in total from unexplained source have been seized,” the tweet by ED had read.
