The video of a BJP leader in Maharashtra kissing a girl inside a moving bus had become a dominating topic of conversation on social media platforms on Tuesday.

After the CCTV footage from the cameras installed in the bus went viral, the girl in question had lodged a police complaint of rape against the BJP leader, Ravindra Bawanthale. The woman had accused Bawanthale of promising to marry her and provide employment.

However, the video accessed by Janta Ka Reporter raises several questions on the veracity of the woman’s claims. In the video, Bawanthale and the woman in question are seen enjoying intimate moments without the former exercising any force.

The new twist has brought the woman’s rape charges under huge scanner.

Meanwhile, Nagbhid Police at Bramhapuri in Maharashtra have arrested Bawanthale several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 376 for rape despite the video showing a consensual sex. He has been sent to police custody until 6 July.

The saffron party, for its part, has distanced itself from Bawanthale arguing that the latter was no longer with the party as he failed to attend several meetings.
