Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida have said that two men allegedly kidnapped a 16-year-old girl last week and gang-raped her in Greater Noida. The incident reportedly took place on 24 August last week.
The victim is a resident of Gautam Buddh Nagar district’s Dastampur village, near Jewar and believed to belong to SC/ST community. Circle Officer, Greater Noida 2nd, Piyush Kumar Singh was quoted by PTI as saying that cops had booked the two men under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
The police have also launched a probe into the incident and the accused will be arrested soon, the circle officer said.
The girl was reportedly returning home after attending a sewing class when the two men, passing through the area on a motorbike, kidnapped her. Another police official, SS Bhati, was quoted by PTI, “She had gone for sewing classes near her home and the two accused came on a motorcycle and kidnapped her. They also forced her to have alcohol and beat her up when she resisted.”
“The duo raped her and the next morning dumped her outside her house in Dastampur village,” he said citing the complaint made by her father.
Cops denied that there was any delay in filing the FIR adding that the victim lodged the complaint only on Wednesday and not earlier.
