UP government relaxes corona curfew from 1 June, no relaxations in 20 districts including Lucknow, Noida


The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced a relaxation of coronavirus lockdown in the state with effect from 1 June. The government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that certain activities would be permitted from Tuesday.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary RK Tiwari, according to news agency PTI, said that shops and markets outside containment zones will be allowed to open from 7 AM to 7 PM for five days (Monday to Friday).

However, the night curfew from 7 AM to 7 PM would continue to remain in force. Also remaining in place would be the weekend corona curfew on Saturdays and Sundays until further notice.

Districts with less than 600 active cases would fall out of the containment zone.

20 districts where no relaxations would be given are Lucknow, Meerut, Saharanpur, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Jhansi, Allahabad, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sonbhadra, Jaunpur, Bagpat, Moradabad, Ghazipur, Bijnore and Deoria.

The corona curfew would not apply to essential services such as vaccination drive, medical work and industrial activities.
