Harsh Vardhan’s tweet had read, “Congratulations and best wishes to my elder sister and veteran BJP leader, former External Affairs Minister Mrs Sushma Swaraj on being appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. People of the state will benefit immensely from her long experience in every field.”

But, moments later, the union minister deleted his tweet. This was followed by Swaraj herself taking to social media to deny the reports of her appointment as the Governor. She wrote, “The news about my appointment as Governor of Andhra Pradesh is not true.”

Her subsequent tweet read, “I called on the Vice President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu ji on demitting office as Minister of External affairs. This was enough for Twitter to appoint me as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.”

This was not enough to stop her fans on social media from congratulating her on the reported appointment as the Andhra Governor.

Swaraj had decided not to contest this year’s Lok Sabha polls.
