On Monday, the Delhi police came under unprecedented attack from all and sundry after the video of city cops thrashing peaceful protesters went viral.
In the video, the men in uniform appeared hellbent on displaying their power and didn’t even spare young girls, who were beaten and thrown on the ground amidst constant howling and yelling.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, could evoke sympathy from the enraged policemen.

To make the matter worse, the top cop BS Bassi issued a statement implying that his force was committed to protecting citizens’ right to free speech as long as they didn’t hold protests outside the office of the RSS.
Bassi asked the aspiring protesters to stage their peaceful assembly at Jantar Mantar. Very cute advice indeed. And, some wonders why the city cops still get bad press!
Now, it’s not to conclude that the members of Delhi police don’t have a softer side or that they are a bunch of rude and violent men.
You only had to watch two videos in this report to see just how ‘humane’ the Delhi police can be. Last year, a video of a young boy hurling the choicest of expletives at the men belonging to ‘powerful’ Delhi police went viral.
We don’t know what had pushed the young boy, who appeared to be a son of a ‘very rich’ person in Delhi. As is often the case in Delhi, being rich also brings unprecedented power, which in turn allows you to get away with anything.
And the Delhi police officers are too smart to ignore this truth. Hence, no reaction to series of non-stop abuses by the young boy in the video.
So next time, when you think of holding a protest march against the will of our men in uniform, do ensure you have the support of some rich and mighty. Or else, be prepared to become a martyr in the face of police brutality.
Then don’t say that we didn’t warn you! Forget Delhi Police it’s www.jantakareporter.com, With You, For You Always!
