Two AAP MLAs sent to 14 days of judicial custody, order on bail plea likely tomorrow

A court in Delhi has sent two AAP MLAs, Amantullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal, to 14 days of judicial custody in the case of alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.

However, the court said that it will pass an order on the MLAs’ bail plea and whether to send them to police custody on Friday at 3 PM. The Teez Hazari court on Wednesday had rejected the Delhi Police’s plea for the police custody of these MLAs.

While Jarwal was arrested on Tuesday night, the Okhla MLA had surrendered before Jamia Police Station on Wednesday. Khan was later arrested before being produced before the Delhi court on Wednesday afternoon.

This was after Delhi Police took VK Jain, Delhi Chief Minister’s advisor, into its custody in the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash case. This came just hours after the cops had taken AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal into custody in connection with the same case.

However, in a fresh twist to the case of alleged assault, Prakash’s medical record had  claimed that he was attacked by AAP MLAs after midnight on Tuesday.

The medical report (see below) reads, “Assault after 12.00 midnight (in the intervening night of 19th/20th Feb at CM residence as told by patient himself.” This was in sharp contrast to the CCTV footage of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence that showed Prakash leave the premises at 11.30 PM barely five minutes after his arrival there.
