Congress leader and former MP, Ajoy Kumar, has claimed that Pijush Kanti Biswas, the party’s Tripura chief, has withdrawn his resignation. The new twist came just hours after Biswas stunned everyone by announcing his retirement from politics.

Quoting Biswas’ tweet, Kumar wrote, “After deliberations with me, Pijush Kanti Biswas has withdrawn his resignation from the post of the Tripura Congress President. He would continue to extend his services for the Tripura Congress. I applaud him for keeping the interests of the party above his personal issues.”

Kumar, who is the AICC in charge of Tripura affairs, said that he would soon meet Biswas to resolve all his issues amicably.

Days after All India Mahila Congress chief Sushmita Dev left the Congress to join the Trinamool Congress in Assam, Tripura Congress chief Pijush Kanti Biswas had stunned the party leadership by resigning from his post.

Although Biswas said that he was retiring from active politics, there are speculations that he too may join Mamata Banerjee’s party. Biswas had tweeted, “With sincere gratitude I thank all Congress Leaders, supporters for your cooperation during my tenure as TPCC President (acting). Today I have resigned from the post of President and retired from politics as well. My sincere gratitude towards Hon’ble CP Smt. Sonia Gandhiji.”
