BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday took a veiled dig at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after life came to a standstill due to incessant rainfalls in the national capital. The city was flooded following 112.1 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. This was the heaviest rainfall registered by Delhi in the last 19 years.
Twitter was deluged with photos and videos of residents grappling with flooded roads and houses. One Twitter user took a potshot at Kejriwal’s earlier claims of providing water to everyone in the city as he shared a video of a waterlogged road. Swamy wasted no time in sharing the tweet on his timeline.
@ArvindKejriwal said he will provide water to everyone ..and he did it . ????????????????????????????.@Swamy39 sir what is your view . https://t.co/vnq6uvSWoD

The Delhi Police issued an alert informing commuters that the famous Minto Bridge had been closed due to waterlogging.
“Traffic Alert Traffic movement on Minto Bridge (both carriageway) has been closed due to water logging. Traffic diverted from cannaught place towards Barakhamba and traffic coming from Kamla Market side diverted towards Deen Dayal Uppadhay Road,” a tweet by the Delhi Traffic Police read.
Waterlogging in the national capital governed by Kejriwal also became a topic of hilarious meme fest.

Nature is so powerful, so vast. Doing its duty with full of compassion but unfortunately urban development is not fit to co-operate with nature. #DelhiRains pic.twitter.com/mbBCuBayAw

Incidentally, the city experiences one of the heaviest rainfalls on a day when schools were meant to reopen after a prolonged period of shutdown due to the pandemic.
