Somnath Bharti reaches Kejriwal’s house, women show black flags

Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti, who recently faced allegations of domestic violence levelled by his wife, reached Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house on Thursday, where he was blocked by women staging a protest against him.

According to reports, Somnath Bharti’s car was blocked by women who showed him black flags and criticised Bharti for the allegations against him. It has also been reported that Bhartiya Janta Party members and volunteers also staged a protest outside Bharti’s residence on the same day.

Barkha Singh, chairperson of Delhi Women’s Commission, urged AAP leader Kejriwal to take a stand in the row as she said, “Kejriwal ji should come forth, take a stance in this matter and help solve this.”

According to reports, Somnath Bharti’s wife Lipika Mitra on Wednesday approached the Delhi Commission for Women, accusing the Malviya Nagar legislator of domestic abuse.

The leader, however, denied the allegations and rendered them ‘baseless’.

he DCW has issued a notice to Bharti, a former Law Minister in the first AAP government in the national capital. He has been asked to appear before the panel on June 26.
