Slamming Yoga day, Digvijaya Singh asks what is this drama for?

General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, Digvijay Singh on Wednesday slammed the Modi-government’s plan to carry out a mega event on the occasion of Yoga Day scheduled on June 21, 2015.

Singh told a news agency, “I have been practicing Yoga for 40 years, I’ve never made it an event even when I was CM for 10 years.” He further alleged that the event nothing but a mere drama and said, “What is this drama for? This event is only being organized to hide failures of Modi.”

On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not perform yoga at the mega event on Rajpath to mark the ‘International Yoga Day’.

Preparations for the event are reportedly in full swing under the direct supervision of PM Modi.

With the PM insisting on taking every move and not worrying about the budget to make the International Yoga Day on June 21, Sunday, a memorable spectacle, the event has already been registered in the Guinness Book of World Records under ” largest yoga demonstration/class at a single venue.” The event is poised to witness 35 minutes demonstration of 15 Aasanas at Rajpath by a massive crowd comprising of 45,000 people, government officials, diplomats, military personnel, Bollywood celebrities of the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, cricketers and PM Modi himself.

On June 21 and June 22, the government is also hosting a conference on “yoga for holistic health” at Vigyan Bhavan that will have keynote addresses from speakers from 18 countries.
