Setback for BJP as former union minister Babul Supriyo joins Trinamool Congress

In a huge setback for the BJP, MP and former Union Minister Babul Supriyo on Saturday joined the Trinamool Congress in the presence of Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O’Brien.

The official Twitter handle of the TMC shared a series of photos of Supriyo posing for the camera with his new party colleagues. It tweeted, “ Today, in the presence of National General Secretary @abhishekaitc and RS MP @derekobrienmp, former Union Minister and sitting MP @SuPriyoBabul joined the Trinamool family.
We take this opportunity to extend a very warm welcome to him!”

Supriyo had recently resigned from the BJP.

In a long social media post in July this year, the former union minister had said, “I am going..Alvida (Goodbye…) Heard everything from everyone – Father, (mother) wife, daughter, two dear friends.. I say after listening to everything, I am going…’Stayed for some time’.. Kept some mind and broke some.. Somewhere I may have made you happy with my work, somewhere I am disappointed | You will not evaluate.”
