Rebel AAP MLA Devinder Kumar Sehrawat on Monday joined the BJP in presence of Union Minister Vijay Goel. This comes just days after another AAP MLA Anil Bajpayi had quit the AAP to join the BJP.
Last week, Goel had claimed that several AAP MLAs were in touch with him. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had taken a dig at Goel’s claims and written, “Goel sahab, where’s the deal struck? How much are you offering and what they (AAP MLAs) are asking?”
Bijwasan MLA Sehrawat was suspended by the AAP in September 2016 for anti-party activities. He had accused party leaders in Punjab of “exploiting women” in return for tickets. “Sehrawat has been suspended by the disciplinary committee till pending enquiry,” AAP’s the then Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey had said.
All seven seats of Delhi were won by the BJP. This year’s polls, scheduled for 12 May, will have triangular contest with the BJP and the Congress also in the fray. The counting of votes will take place on 23 May.
More details awaited.
