Industrialist Ratan Tata has been trending on the internet after Tata Steel made an extraordinary announcement to pay full last drawn salaries to all those employees, who died due to COVID-19 complications in the ongoing pandemic.
This was after Tata Steel announced a host of benefits for the families of those employees, who died due to COVID-19 complications recently. According to the announcement, Tata Steel will continue to pay the families of those killed in the pandemic ‘the last drawn salary till 60 years of age of the deceased employee/nominee along with medical benefits and housing facilities.’
The company said in a statement, “In addition to this, for all its frontline employees who as part of their job, met with an unfortunate death due to COVID-19, the Company bears all the expenses of their children’s education till graduation in India.”
Tata Steel said that it stood ‘stoically with all its people, committed to their security and well-being.’
The news earned Ratan Tata plenty of plaudits from netizens, who felt that other big companies ought to learn from Tata Steel on how to ensure the welfare of their employees, particularly during the pandemic.
