Rajinikanth appears to agree that BJP is a dangerous party

When legendary actor Rajinikanth announced his entry into active politics in December last year, it was widely believed he was soft on the BJP and may even ally with the Hindutva party in future.

However, the actor’s response to reporters on Monday is bound to cause plenty of heartburn in the top BJP leadership. Rajinikanth was asked by a reporter for his comment on whether the BJP was such a dangerous party that an alliance was being formed by several political parties at the national level ahead of the next year’s parliamentary elections.

Pat came Rajinikanth’s reply, “If they (opposition parties) think like that, then definitely it should be that way.”

Efforts have been on to form a non-BJP alliance for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. There’s a general feeling that the BJP has always gained from the division in the opposition vote share. More recently, when the Congress and the JDS fought bypolls in Karnataka together, they swept the elections by even breaching a BJP bastion in Bellary.

The opposition unity had also seen the BJP bite the dust in Uttar Pradesh’s Kairana and Gorakhpur earlier this year.
