Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s brother raided by CBI; Congress terms it vendetta

The Congress has lashed out at the Centre’s Narendra Modi government after the federal probe agency, the CBI, raided Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s brother, Agrasen Gehlot for alleged corruption.

Reacting to the news of CBI raids on premises linked to the brother of Rajasthan chief minister, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “This is vendetta politics beyond all bounds. @ashokgehlot51 was at the forefront of the protests in Delhi over the past three days, and this is Modi Govt’s brazen response! We will not be silenced!”

Ramesh was appointed the new Congress General Secretary of media and communications, replacing Randeep Singh Surjewala, who has been elected as a Rajya Sabha MP.

According to reports, the CBI officials arrived at the residence of Agrasen Gehlot on Friday to carry out the raids at his residence in Jodhpur in a fresh case of corruption against him.



The development comes just a day after the Congress accused the Delhi Police of resorting to brutal steps to stop its leaders from peacefully protesting against the questioning of Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate.

Agrasen Gehlot is is a businessman and had earlier faced grilling by the ED in an alleged fertiliser scam. The CBI is also believed to have raided his premises linked to his business.
