In a shocking development, one of Prime Minister’s trusted lieutenants has sensationally left his post barely 18 months after he was appointed on a special role. PK Sinha quit the post of Principal Advisor to PM Modi citing personal grounds, reported NDTV.
Sinha, a retired IAS officer of 1977 batch, was appointed as Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister in September 2019, after a brief stint as an officer on special duty (OSD). A report by news agency PTI said that he was made OSD to the Prime Minister in August 2019, after he had served four years as Cabinet Secretary.
His appointment in a special role had come with PM Modi winning a second term in office in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. However, unlike PK Mishra or NSA Ajit Doval, Sinha did not enjoy the cabinet rank and worked without any official rank.
According to the order of his appointment, his tenure as Principal Advisor was co-terminus with the term of Prime Minister Modi or until further announcement, whichever earlier.
Sinha had also served as Secretary in the Ministry of Power.
Sinha was appointed in his new role in the PMO after another close aide of PM Modi, Nripendra Mishra, had resigned from his post of Principal Secretary to PM Modi.
