A sea of supporters gathered outside the BJP headquarters at 11 Ashoka Road on Sunday to celebrate the historic win in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

A short while ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too joined the celebrations.

The BJP had won more than 320 seats in a 403-seat assembly on Saturday. The party may also announce its chief minister for the state today.

PM Modi said, “With every election, support for BJP is increasing across the country and the party’s victory march is moving ahead.”

Modi said that this was “a golden period for BJP and we have reached here with sheer hard work.”

He said, “With every election, support for BJP is increasing across the country and the party’s victory march is moving ahead. We should be humble after the massive victory, and use this as a platform to serve the people… Burden on the middle class should be reduced so that they can shine.”

The prime minister said that ‘we as human beings may commit mistake but we will never do anything with mala fide intentions.’
