Heavy firing started between Pakistani and Indian troops along the LoC in the Poonch Sector of Jammu early on Monday morning. No casualties have been reported so far, a correspondent told Jantakareporter.com.
“The firing started at around 6 or 6:30 am in the sector. Indian army officials alleged that Pakistani rangers targeted their positions following which the Indian troops retaliated the unprovoked firing,” a source said.
Firing exchanges have been going on intermittently in the area ever since the unprovoked attack took place. Pakistani rangers allegedly used small arms and automatic weapons for the attack.
Earlier on Saturday, five civilians had been injured in a similar attack in the area carried out by the Pakistani army.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently visited Jammu University to commemorate the centenary celebration of the late Congress stalwart, Giridhari Lal Dogra.
