I shot the scene but it wasn’t nude, says Kannada actor Sanjjanaa

Kannada actor Sanjjanaa has broken her silence on the viral nude video of her from her new film Dandupalya 2 saying that whilst she shot the scene of sexual harassment by the jail authorities, she wasn’t nude.

She took to Twitter to claim that she wouldn’t go ‘100 percent’ nude even if it wasn’t a Bond film.

She wrote, “I will not shoot 100 percent nude even if it is a James Bond film, coming in from strong Indian culture I keep in mind my limitations.”

The video of Sanjjanaa being forcibly undressed and tortured by a cop inside a prison had gone viral on social media platforms. The scene, according to reports, was deleted from the film before its release to conform the instructions from the regional censor board.

Sanjjanaa told Times Of India that she was “shocked” and “appalled” with how the deleted scenes could garner such interest.

She said, “Yes. I shot for it, but I was not nude. I have pictures that show my body parts covered up with a towel that were clicked in my caravan. What is eventually seen in the film is the result of computer colour grading, which was made to show the scene in that fashion.”

The paper further quoted her as saying, “My character, Chandri, is a victim of sexual abuse in this scene, so this was meant to showcase that. I am appalled at how the scene has been circulated by people and has been shown repeatedly on media platforms. It shocks me that people want to share content like this among themselves.”

On the shooting of the scene, the actor said that she was of the opinion that it would be shot aesthetically.

“I thought it would be shot aesthetically, but the way it has been picturised is downright vulgar. The fault is in the making. It might have been shot like that keeping the mass audience in mind,” she added.
