Poll strategist Prashant Kishor, who was responsible for successfully managing the election campaign of Narendra Modi during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, has slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Kishor, who recently managed Mamata Banerjee’s election campaign in West Bengal, reminded the Congress how it had lost ’90 % elections in last 10 years.’

Kishor said, “The IDEA and SPACE that #Congress represents is vital for a strong opposition. But Congress’ leadership is not the DIVINE RIGHT of an individual especially, when the party has lost more than 90% elections in last 10 years. Let opposition leadership be decided Democratically.”

Kishor’s brutal dig aimed at Rahul Gandhi came hours after Mamata Banerjee mocked the Congress leader for staying abroad instead of working on the ground. She had said in a media interaction that ‘if one does nothing and is abroad half the time, then how will one do politics?’ This was seen as a direct attack by the Bengal chief minister against Rahul Gandhi, who’s had to face criticism for frequently holidaying abroad.

Banerjee is currently trying to stitch a pan-India anti-BJP alliance, but the Congress believes that she is indirectly helping the BJP since the Trinamool Congress has continued to weaken her former party to expand her base outside Bengal. Many Congress leaders recently joined the Trinamool in Tripura and Goa. There are reports that similar trend would follow elsewhere in India.
