Five NSCN militants killed in Nagaland

Seven people including six NSCN militants were  believed to have been killed and two injured after the troops of 23 Assam Rifles and 21 (SF) Para commandos reportedly laid an ambush on a the militants belonging to NSCN (K) along the Pangsha International Trade Centre area, bordering Myanmar on Friday afternoon.

The PRO of the Assam Rifles, however, clarified that NSCN (K) militants had fired on the security forces first.

Two women and an army jawan are reported to have sustained bullet injuries.

Local media reported that the NSCN (K) cadres with other occupants, were travelling in three vehicles from Noklak towards Pangsha when they were ambushed at around 1.30 p.m.

Quoting sources Nagalandpost said that the bodies of five of those killed were being taken to Noklak while the sixth would be taken to Mon.

The injured were shifted to Tunesang.

The PRO IGAR (N) in a statement said that “the Assam Rifles (AR) troops neutralized seven, including a woman from NSCN (K) cadre in a major successful operation at Pangsha under Tuensang district.”

The statement said that the security forces had “displayed a very high order of restraint and fire discipline to ensure that the OGWs did not suffer fatal injuries during the fire fight.”

 

Security forces operating in the region have always suspected NSCN(K) of crossing the border under the “garb of Free Movement Regime existing between the two countries.”

Meanwhile, a statement issued the NSCN(K) said that among those who were killed also included two army jawans.
