‘Accidental’ explosion injures 12 army jawans in Kashmir, seven critical

An accidental explosion at an army camp in south Kashmir’s Pulwana district left 12 Army jawans injured on Saturday. Seven of them are believed to have received critical injuries.

According to a senior army officer, the explosion took place at around 8.45 in the morning during a training at the Corps battle school.

While rest of the injured are reported to be stable, seven out of 12 injured have been shifted to army’s 92 base hospital in Srinagar for treatment.

An army expokesperson said that they were investigating the cause of the blast as it was not immediately known what caused the explosion.

He said, “It could be accidental. However, only an inquiry will establish the facts and nothing can be said at this time.”
