Minor, woman among six arrested after Kolkata Police bust sex racket in posh residential area, 6 women including girls rescued

Police in Kolkata have busted a sex racket in a posh Salt Lake City area on Thursday and arrested six people while rescuing six women.

 

Acting on a tip-off, the Bidhannagar Police raided Green Shelter Guest House in CL 60, located in a residential area of Sector II in Salt Lake. Those arrested have been identified as 22-year-old Sandip Mishra (manager and pimp of the guest house), 37-year-old Krishna Debnath (female trafficker), 30-year-old Tanmoy Saha (male trafficker), 23-year-old Raju Das, 19-year-old Tuhin Banerjee and 31-year-old Babusona Maji (all guest house employess and pimps).

“We had information that some minor girls and women were forced into prostitution at the address. Hence, we raided the area and rescued the women and arrested the accused person,” an officer of Bidhannagar Commissionerate was quoted by Times of India.

“A CID team raided the Green Shelter Guest House in Salt Lake on the basis of information of commercial sexual exploitation. Six girls including two minors were rescued,” CID Director General (Operations) Nishant Pervez was quoted by NDTV.

The arrested people were produced  before a Salt Lake court on Saturday that sent them to police custody.

Local residents had raised the alarm bell after suspecting many minor girls were being pushed in the sex trade. Sal Late is also known as the New Kolkata with the area inhabiting some of the richest individuals of the city.

Only last wee, US agents had busted a sex racket involving top Telugu and Kannada actresses who had been duped into sleeping with male clients across America.
