Amit Shah new Home Minister, Rajnath Singh Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman replaces Arun Jaitley

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath of office with 58 cabinet colleagues on Thursday. Hours later, he has distributed ministerial portfolios too. Amit Shah has become India’s new Home Minister, while Rajnath Singh, who held this post earlier, has been given the Defence Ministry.

S Jaishankar has replaced Sushma Swaraj as the new Foreign Minister, while  Nirmala Sitharaman has become the new Finance Minister. The HRD ministry has gone to Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

Prakash Javdekar has got the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting along with Environment Ministry. Smriti Irani has been given the ministry held by Maneka Gandhi. She now has Ministry of Child and Women Development alongside her earlier portfolio as Textiles Minister.
