“Mamata Banerjee is like Kim (Kim Jong-un) of North Korea”: BJP demands cancellation of Kolkata civic polls, alleges fake voting

The BJP on Sunday said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was like North Korea dictator Kim Jong-un as the Hindutva party demanded the cancellation of the Kolkata civic polls.

“It is a murder of democracy…Mamata Banerjee is like Kim (Kim Jong-un) of North Korea. This election should be cancelled… we have documents on fake voting etc,” said West Bengal LoP and BJP leader Suvendhu Adhikari before meeting the WB Governor,” BJP MLA and the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, said.

Adhikari, a former close confidante of Mamata Banerjee, said that he was ‘ready to submit evidence and video clips in the court hearing on 23 December.’

People in Kolkata voted for the 144 wards of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Sunday. A report by Times of India said that ward 63 BJP candidate Navin Mishra and five others were arrested after they entered into a scuffle with TMC workers.

According to news agency PTI, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee says if any party leader is found involved in violence during Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections, strict action will be taken within 24 hours, requests media to come out with related footage and evidence if available.

Adhikari was a tall TMC leader but he jumped the ship just before the assembly elections and joined the BJP.
