The Maharashtra Police have arrested IAS officer Sushil Khodwekar for his alleged role in the infamous Teachers’ Eligibility Test scam. Khodwekar has become the 13th person to be arrested in connection with the alleged corruption in the results of the TET scam.
According to news agency PTI, the IAS officer will be produced before a court today.
Police are investigating how the marks 7,800 TET-2020 candidates were allegedly manipulated in exchange for money for exams held in 2018 and 2020.
Earlier, the police had arrested Tukaram Supe, Commissioner of the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE). Supe was later suspended from his post.
Among those arrested are Pritesh Deshmukh, director of GA Software firm, which was responsible for conducting the exam, and Abhishek Sawrikar, a consultant with the education department.
The police have also recovered Rs. 4 crore, gold jewellery and key documents related to the case. A report by Indian Express said that amounts ranging between Rs 35,000 to a couple of lakhs were allegedly taken from candidates to increase their TET marks.
