Karnataka Bypolls: Huge lead for Congress-JDS alliance, BJP’s fiefdom Bellary breached

In a huge setback to the BJP in Karnataka, the Congress-JDS alliance is on course to secure a huge victory in the just-concluded bypolls for three Lok Sabha and two assembly seats.

The Congress, which fought the polls in alliance with the JDS, is set to breach Bellary, which has been a fiefdom of sorts for the BJP. The Congress VS Ugrappa was leading from here by nearly 2 lakh votes.

Out of the five seats, the BJP was leading only in Shivamogga, which had fallen vacant after BS Yeddyurappa resigned from here to fight the assembly polls. However, the lead for the saffron party here was quite thin.
