Comedian Kapil Sharma has reportedly taken a significant pay cut to keep his show going on Sony TV after the channel reportedly threatened to not renew the contract due to falling TRPs.

The show was expected to be renewed in April for Rs 110 crore annual contract, but the sudden exit of Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar led to a huge drop in the show’s TRP.

Grover, Asgar and Prabhakar had quit the show in protest of Sharma’s behaviour during a flight journey from Australia, where he had allegedly misbehaved with his co-stars. He was also accused of having physically assaulted Grover.

Sharma had later apologised publicly and even attempted to meet Grover to bury the differences but to no avail.

Grover had later told Janta Ka reporter that ‘enough was enough’ adding that he did not care about the consequences before taking the decision to part ways with Kapil Sharma Show.

Quoting a source, DNA reported, “There is no other way Kapil can keep up with his show. The film offers he has in hand won’t get him the money he’s making from his comedy show. So he had to agree. It wasn’t a yes or no, it had to be yes.”

There were also reports that Sony had decided to replace his show with a new series of Das Ka Dum, presented by Salman Khan.
