Sanjiv Bhatnagar, the chief executive officer (CEO) of a Jouve India, a multi-national E-publishing firm, was caught red-handed while receiving a parcel containing cocaine worth of about Rs 20,000, at a courier company on Tuesday.
Narcotics Control Bureau zonal director Prem Anand Sinha told a news agency that a meeting with the courier firm helped them track Bhatnagar’s actions. “The courier firm tipped us about a suspicious parcel that landed from Bengaluru on Tuesday. Police teams were waiting near the courier firm’s office to nab the suspect who they knew would come to collect the consignment,” he said.
Caught with a parcel containing 3.88 grams of cocaine, Bhatnagar and his driver were taken into custody immediately by NCB officials.
According to reports, 50-year-old Bhatnagar, had been ordering the cocaine through a website and getting them from a Bengaluru-based supplier for the past one year.
