Jet Airways has clarified that the viral image mocking the violence committed by a group of IndiGo staff was not commissioned by the airlines.

In its statement, Jet Airways said, “Jet Airways Statement: Jet Airways did not commission the creative being shared on social media platforms, in context of a recent event concerning another domestic airline. The creative does not reflect our philosophy and ethos and is in fact, in bad taste.”

After the video of IndiGo staff beating up one of its passengers at Delhi airport went viral, another image attributed to Jet Airways began to be circulated widely on WhatsApp. In the image, Jet Airways was accused of having taken a dig at the misbehaviour of the IndiGo staff by saying, “Jet Airways, We our competition, not you.”

A group of IndiGo staff, behaving like goons, had brutally beat up a passenger after the latter indulged in arguments with them at Delhi airport on 15 October. The video of passenger Vinay Katiyal being thrashed by a group of IndiGo staff had gone viral.

IndiGo Airlines had apologised for the incident while adding that the staff involved including the whistle-blower have been fired. The airline had said, “Incident probed by designated committee. Took action against staff who was main culprit, by immediately terminating his employment.”
