India’s representative at Ramallah, Mukul Arya, dies in office

Condolences have poured in for the Indian representative at Ramallah in Palestine, Mukul Arya, on his tragic death in office.

Reacting to Arya’s death, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote on Twitter, “Deeply shocked to learn about the passing away of India’s Representative at Ramallah, Shri Mukul Arya. He was a bright and talented officer with so much before him. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Om Shanti.”



Ambassador Indramani Pandey, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, tweeted, “My heartfelt condolences on untimely passing away of Mukul Arya, India’s Representative in Ramallah, Palestine. I met him on various occasions during his posting in Paris. He was a bright and intelligent officer and a gentleman. Om Shanti.”



Arya had joined the Indian Foreign Service in 2008. Born and raised in India’s national capital, Arya had studied Economics at the Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) before cracking the UPSC exams.

Before his posting in Palestine, Arya had served in the external affairs ministry in Delhi as well as serving at the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in Paris and at the Embassies of India in Kabul and Moscow.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian leadership has condoled the death of Indian Representative Mukul Arya, reported news agency PTI.
