The Indian women’s cricket team on Sunday defeated Pakistan in their opening ICC Women’s World Cup encounter, but away from the cricket field, Indian women earn plaudits after a video of them showering love on Pakistani skipper Bismah Maroof’s newborn went viral.

Bismah is taking part in the ongoing ODI World Cup immediately after returning from her maternity leave. Her newborn, Fatima, has accompanied the mother to New Zealand.

In the viral video, members of the Indian team could be seen gushing over Fatima, who’s being held by her mother, Bismah. Fans were quick to declare the gesture by the Indian team as a true example of the spirit that players from the two rival countries ought to display towards each other.

The Indian team also posed for a photo with Fatima and Bisma. The cricket’s world governing body, the ICC, shared the photo on Twitter as it wrote, “Little Fatima’s first lesson in the spirit of cricket from India and Pakistan ???????? #CWC22.”

Here’s how fans reacted to the viral video;

India defeated Pakistan by 107 runs as they registered their 11 successive win against them. Pakistan have never defeated India in the 50-over match.
