India’s Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has tested positive for coronavirus. Naidu’s office made the announcement about his health condition.
“The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, who is in Hyderabad, tested COVID positive today. He has decided to remain in self-isolation for a week. He has advised all those who came in contact with him to isolate themselves and get tested,” the official Twitter handle of Naidu read.

Several BJP leaders and politicians from the opposition parties wished Naidu a speedy recovery. Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi tweeted, “Praying for your quick recovery. Get well soon sir.”
Union Minister Jitendra Singh wrote, ‘Wishing you a speedy recovery Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu ji.”
BJD Rajya Sabha MP Sasmit Patra tweeted, “My prayers and all the best wishes to Hon’ble Vice President of India & Chairman, Rajya Sabha Shri. Venkaiah Naidu ji
@MVenkaiahNaidu, that he may have a speedy recovery from COVID. May God bless him and give him good health.”
India too has been affected by the emergence of the Omicron variant with a spike in the daily number of cases. However, unlike the Delta variant, the latest wave of coronavirus has not led to significant number of deaths.
