Hindutva terrorists attack Muslim beggar, family in Congress-ruled Rajasthan; Ajmer Police faces widespread condemnation

Rajasthan’s Congress government is facing widespread condemnation after a viral video showed a group of Hindutva terrorists attacking a Muslim beggar and his family in Ajmer. The Ajmer Police only reacted after being asked to look into the case by an aide to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

In the viral video, a group of Hindutva terrorists could be seen assaulting and abusing a Muslim beggar. The Muslim was then asked to go to Pakistan to earn his living. Embarrassed by the video, Shashi Kant Sharma, OSD to CM Gehlot, tagged the Rajasthan Police on Twitter to ‘look into’ the matter. He wrote, “As directed kindly look into the matter.”

The Ajmer Police replied informing that they had arrested five people before booking them under section 151 CrPC.

This left many activists and journalists enraged since section 151 of CrPc only deals with the ‘arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences’ and all accused are likely to be released. Legal correspondent Arib Uddin tweeted, “Section 151? Why not hurt, assault, creating enmity between religious groups? A reason why don’t have a pan India Anti-Lynching law. Even the guidelines in Tehseen poonawalla case is lying on the table.”

Journalist Rifat Jawaid tagged Gehlot on Twitter to write, “This is a joke @ashokgehlot51 ji. Why were these terrorists booked under such weak section? What example is your government trying to set? How’s your government different from those in UP, MP or other BJP-ruled states? These cops should be pulled up! @_lokeshsharma.”

Many are aghast by the lackadaisical approach of the Congress government in Rajasthan over the lynching incident from Ajmer. This comes just days after a Muslim bangle seller was mercilessly lynched by Hindutva terrorists in Madhya Pradesh. Netizens are asking if there’s any difference for Muslims living in states ruled by the BJP and the Congress.
