BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Thursday took a brutal dig at the blind supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that they would commit suicide ‘fright.’
This was after one Twitter asked, seemingly a BJP supporter, suggested that Swamy must be the uniting force within the Hindutva party. The Twitter user wrote, “The uniting glue has to be someone like Dr. @Swamy39 who is not insecure of others, who can deliver things, whose intelligence is recognized by all, who is experienced…..I can go on and on. Currently, there is no one else like him, whom I can see at an equivalent position.”
Responding to his tweet, Swamy replied, “You want the ABs and GBs to commit suicide in fright?”
In his subsequent tweet, Swamy explained how compliments extended to him had often sent Modi’s blind supporters into depression. “You have misunderstood. Any complimentary words about me makes ABs and GBs go into a depression and become suicidal,” Swamy wrote.

Earlier this year, Swamy had taken a dig at Modi supporters, popularly known as bhakts, by asking them if their leader should be held responsible for the current surge in the pandemic in the country. “When the Coronavirus Pandemic cases were running at 100,000 daily mid-April 2020 and fell to 10, 000 by November. who was given the credit by Andhbhakts and Gandhbahkts? Now have the cases risen again to 100, 000 again? Then who will now claim credit?” Swamy had asked.
Andhbhakts are used for blind supporters of PM Modi, while the use of gandhbhakts was to imply that not only are they illiterate but they also stink.”
Swamy has been at a collision course with the Modi government by routinely criticising it for its questionable foreign policy, particularly towards China. When someone asked him to use his China connection to neutralise the ‘war-like’ situation at the Indo-China border, Swamy had angrily replied, “If Namo does not want to use my economic expertise why would he want on China? If I want to pass on any suggestion I will tell Rajnath or Gadkari. If you don’t want to know you can stop following me.”
